Do We Hafta Go to the NIT If Invited?

I don't mean "Is there a rule?" I mean do we have to go like we would have to accept a crappy football bowl bid.
Frankly, I think we'll be in the Big Dance, but what if. I would rather see us get knocked out early in the Big Dance than to go far in the NIT. In the past several decades I have thought of the NIT a a real losers' tournament. I realize it was prestigious in the 50's.

They have to win 2 of the next four games against Baylor@home, Tech@home, and road games versus OSU and KU.

That's very doable. I'm no longer willing to contemplate the NIT for this team after the win over OU. Go ask Connecticut and Syracuse fans about the NIT. They have more recent experience with that tournament than we do at this point.

There is no doubt in my mind after last night, this team will make the NCAA tournament.

Have some faith. And if we got invited to the NIT we wouldnt turn it down. Think about the teams that fight just to get in the NIT every year. We arent that stuck up that we would deny the chance for a post-season.

And this team is NCAA tourney bound. Lets use that momentum from last night, take it to the Tech game, the KU game.. and the Big 12 tourney. End up with a 5 seed, and keep that Sweet 16 streak alive.

Why don't you go? It's that much more opportunity for the returning players to get experience playing against decent competition, if not stellar, competition. I'd think NIT games are a lot more valuable than the random November games against rpi 200+ teams.

If invited, I am sure they will go. Billy Donovan wasn't too proud to go last year when UF didn't make it after back-to-back titles. Jim Boeheim goes. Jim Calhoun goes.

Local fans get to see another game or two of the guys they've been following, which wouldn't happen in the NCAA. Where's the downside?
