I was chopping wood for tomorrows BBQ and a piece flew back and hit me in the shin. Wasnt too bad for an hour or two until the swelling began. The pain, while bad, is nothing a few modelos wont cure for now.
In all reality, if you can walk on it and it's not too painful, just ice it down and take some Advil. If the swelling/pain isn't gone by Saturday, you probably ought to go see a doc.
Yowzaa! How the hell did you do that? Was that indention above the swelling there before? I'm in healthcare and have seen my fair share of grusome injuries, but that just looks funky. The thing I would worry about is if any wood got in there and could cause an infection. If that badboy gets any worse then I would try to go to a minor care clinic and get some x-rays. If it hurts to put pressure on it, then I would go soon. You need to rule out a fracture and foreign body. Even if it is a hairline fracture at worse, you dont want to injure it again, somehow, and make it worse. If you go for x-rays, make sure they do a soft tissue x-ray also to rule out splinters in your leg. Keep us posted.
I've hit my shin on various objects in the past and several times I've had very large knots form. They are usually gone by later in the day/next day. I'm betting you're fine, but if it doesn't get better, I'd go see a doctor.
Anyway when I took the picture was probably the peak of swelling and the pain was mainly from pressure. Today the leg doesnt really hurt, but the emtional pain from realizing I have hairy, hideous bird legs will undoubtedly linger.
since all of these fine posters have felt the need to denigrate you, I will be the one to throw a compliment onto this thread. That grout is very clean. Good job.
