Do I need a firewall?

I've been paying McAfee for a firewall as part of my virus protection plan but my subscription is getting ready to expire. I've been told that since my connection is satellite, not cable or DSL, that I don't need a firewall. True? If not, is there a free firewall that will work for me? Running XP. Thanks.

Incorrect. You need a firewall running satellite. I use Zone Alarm free.

If your connection is satellite, you should become familiar with the forums at broadband reports.

There is also a security forum on the same site. Both have good search features.
