I think the Mouton-Abrams and Buckman-Atchley comparisons are a bit stretched, but overall this year's team does remind me of 2003.

I loved me some James Thomas back in 2003. One of my favorite Texas hoops players.

Other than the fact that both teams are highly ranked, a top notch point guard, and a suspect bench - they really don't have much in common.

As a couple have already commnented, DJ and TJ have just as many differences as they do similarities. TJ was much better passer while DJ is much better shooter. TJ was nails on the free-thow line, DJ not so much.

Damion James and James Thomas both great rebounders, but their offensive games couldn't be more different.

Atchley and Buckman, other than being big white guys, couldn't be more different.

Mouton and AJ were both scorers but in much different ways. Mouton was like 6-4, AJ is barely 5-10.

Royal and Justin can both play defense, but again are completely different offensive players.

The article is weak at best.

The 2003 team didn't have a suspect bench. The bench on that team was very good. Sydmill Harris, Jason Klotz, Brandon Boddiker were all very good off of the bench. But anyway this team does not remind me of 2003 because they have such a different style. That 03 team did a lot of things pretty well. This team does a few things really well and some things not very well. The main difference is that 03 team had a lot of inside presence with Thomas, Buckman, Klotz, and Boddiker. That team almost never got outrebounded. This team is very good but I don't see many similarities.

The bench in 2003 was the opposite of suspect. It was one of our biggest strengths as a team.
