DMN Reaction

When GG was first hired I thought she'd do well. But the last 5 seasons have been very poor, and the lack of strong recruiting in Texas issue hurt. Didn't she miss out on Britnay Griner at Baylor?

I used to like to watch the women play, but the last couple of years I've paid little attention, and hoped she whould go after this season....should have wished to win the lottery, damnit!!!
 
Everyone missed out on Griner, she's been comitted to baylor since she was in the 7th grade and never considered any other university. No visits, or anything. So that is one missed target that couldnt be pinned on GG
 
It's gonna be hard for Plonsky to hire the new women's basketball coach. Plonsky seems to prefer sophisticated, back east types as coaches.

What UT needs is an energetic and talented coach who can do for women's basketball what Mack did for football. Namely, the new coach needs to recruit the hell out of Texas and the surrounding states. The new coach needs enough coaching ability to hang with Mulkey and any other coach out there. The new coach needs the energy and drive to want to win NOW...no three, or four, or five year plans, please!

I do NOT want to see UT go after Mulkey, mainly because her success is tied to Baylor, and she doesn't seem to have a very high opinion of UT anyway. I want to see UT hire a coach who can outcoach, and outrecruit Mulkey. I wouldn't pretend to know who that is...but Plonsky's gotta get it right this time, or even a magician might not be able to resurrect the Longhorns' womens' basketball team.
