Here is a HUGE update people have been craving for. The stadium is slowly but surely coming together nicely. This place is going to be electric this year. Enjoy!

DKR is almost unrecognizable from the first time I went there in the mid-80s. Just wow. I still think there's going to be some construction going on throughout the year, but I can't wait for the Pig game. AWESOME UPDATE!

Thanks for the pictures. I attended my first game in Austin in '62. We never dreamed of anything like this.

i wish DeLoss would consider making the SEZ mirror the NEZ of 2007 (two-thirds of the bottom level) for the short term (until the full buildout is approved).

Some thoughts regarding the SEZ: We haven't even had a season in the expanded NEZ. don't fret over the SEZ not being developed at all. In fact, be thankful that there are bleacher seats there; for years it made no sense that we didn't put some seating there and there was talk that the only year they were going to was during the destruction and rebuilding of the NEZ. Also, we just put up the Godzillatron and it would have to be moved (I know it is not poular, but I'm just saying). Plus, years ago I read about how the building of the SEZ stands would affect the players and coaches view of the field and I don't know if that has been worked out yet.

When I was therre in the mid 60's without any upper decks we only filled it up to 67K 2-3 times a year maybe. They had promotions from the supermarkets and special scouting programs to use the NEZ seats during the early OOC games. Incredble changes. Can't wait till 8/30!

Niiice..

Does anyone have any projected pictures of what the finished product should look like, or a model of what they plan? I was under the impression that they're going to, when the time comes, make the stadium a complete bowl (including SEZ). I know even wikipedia mentions there are partial plans, though dates are not mentioned, and I heard a lot about DKR soon to hold the highest capacity of any other NCAA on-campus stadium. I know that won't happen w/ JUST a revamped NEZ.

Any pictures, models, or confirmed plans?

the only problem with having the SEZ mirror the NEZ is losing the great view of downtown. I think the cityscape really ties things together and I hate to not have that anymore.

Cool future renderings.

With the NEZ nearing completion and to be ready by opening day 2008, the question has to be asked.....Is DKR now the premier stadium of the Big 12? What else compares?

well baylors is bad. tech's is better now but nowhere near great. ou's looks great from some angles and ****** from others due to different design phases not being blended well. nu's looks nice, but i heard that some of it is very old and not in great shape, and it caps out at around 80K i think. colorados is nothing special. ksu, kansas, isu, please. don't know about osu's finished product but it could be nice, but smallish. aggys is aggy.

*i have not been to any of these except baylor, so my opinions are based on watching games on tv.

DKR is far and away the premier stadium in the Big 12. Heck, its probably the premier stadium west of the Mississippi.

Actually, Nebraska's is poorly designed. It has the majority of its seats in the end zones. It does get incredibly loud, though.

Wow... Thanks for the heads up on the projected model. That'll be QUITE a stadium..

I agree, it'd take away the "downtown in the background" effect, but only for a select bunch of people. Not everyone is going to be getting that view anyways, and I'm sure some will "partially" be able to see it still.. Just imagine how much louder the stadium would be though! Not only will it be more closed for no volume escape, but MUCH more people..

Upon completion, I think it's pretty easy to say DKR is the best in the conference. Behind it is OSU I think. Their stadium renovation will make it a great stadium, but their problem is they couldn't sell out their stadium last year, and it was already small.

Then aggy and Nebraska. But stadiums that have their largest sections in the endzone = fail
