Divorce Decree Possession Question

With Easter so early this year, an overlap exists with my Spring Break possession.

This year spring break is from 3-14 to 3-24, Easter is from 3-21 to 3-24

The language is as follows:
BoogityBoy-Spring Break in Even-Numbered Years-In even numbered years at the time the child's school is regularly dismissed on the day the child is dismissed from school for the school's spring vacation and ending at the time school resumes after that vacation.

Pain in Boogity's *** - Easter - During Easter break in all years beginning at the time the child's school is regularly dismissed from school for the Easter holiday and ending at the time the child's school resumes after that Easter holiday.

Here's the deal. I live 80 miles from my daughters and the woman has done me no favors with regard to seeing them. . I have no intention of giving up my SB time with them as that time is limited as it is.

She IS a nutjob and will call the police and whoever else will answer the phone the minute I have the girls in my possession and inform her I will be returning them to school the morning after Easter. I fully plan to notify my local sheriff of my intent and I intend to do the same with her authorities once I have the girls in my possession.

Any way I might get stung here?

That sounds like a poorly-worded divorce decree.

I don't really know what you can do, as we've never had any real problems dealing with my stepkids' dad (other than collecting child support), but I would say that talk of police and the sheriff is a bit alarming. Are you sure you want your daughters to be at the middle of anything like that? I know you want to see them as much as you can, but starting out with the assumption that the authorities have to be involved seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy, and one that will end badly all the way around.

Good luck (and I mean that).

I'm not a parent but I agree with jimmyjazz. Is it really worth putting your daughters through the ordeal of the police being involved if you could forego that problem just by taking them back to mom's on Friday instead of Monday morning.

Although actually, now that I think about, there could be a loophole here for you this year. Do your kid's have the day after Easter off or do they go back to school on the 24th? If they go back on the 24th, it would seem to me that the school calender would designate the previous week as 'Spring Break' and there actually would be no such thing as an 'Easter Holiday' from school this year. Even if they go back on the 25th, it would seem that "Easter Holiday" would begin on the 24th.

Believe me I've tried. Hell the woman files a complaint with police if my work makes me an hour late to pick them up. Hell hath no fury....

Normal people work this out by giving a little bit here and there for the sake of the children, but some are unwilling to do this.
Since the decree does not cover this situation exactly, you either have to get her to agree to the spring break dates, get the decree changed to cover every contingency, or maintain that your reading of the rules allows you this time with the children.
It is a real shame when divorced people cannot put their grievances aside for the benefit of their children. Each parent should be willing to share visitation rights. It is always difficult, but must be done.
