disposal doesn't work

I turned on my disposal and it sonuded like some type of metal was in there, but after looking and finding nothing I turned it back on and nothing. I can hear that it is getting power but it isn't turning at all. It is only a yeard old and is in perfect shape.

Is there a reset button? Do I need to take it apart i order to get it to work? Any help would be greatly appretiated

yeah there is a reset button, look around for it.

get a spoon and rotate the blade a few times while it is off and then turn it back on. Should work after this.

the reset button is usually red and on the drum part of the disposal, the main part. it is most likely in the hardest spot to get to. this is because plumbers have a sick sense of humor.

the spoon idea is a good one. i suggest putting a piece of tape over the switch, just in case you pissed off your wife recently.

There should be a hole in the bottom that you can fit a star wrench in -- give it a full rotation, then hit the reset button and see if that does it.

no, it was 2 quarters. And once out and reset it worked perfect.
