Dishwasher seems broken.

Started it & it appears to have gone about 1/2 cycle then kaput.

There's still standing water in the bottom of it & there doesn't seem to be anything clogging it up.

I tried to restart it, however nothing happens (no lights on the front, nada). I guess I need to go under the sink & see if the plug has somehow come undone; I don't think it's the receptacle because the garbatge disposal still works & it's in the same receptacle). This also means it's not a tripped breaker, even though I have already looked @ this as well.

Anyone have any experience in disposals & related issues?

Is this an electronic model or older mechanical timer version(has a dial)?

If electronic, you may want to try cutting power to it for an hour and then trying to start back up.

Either model can be affected by a door switch not making. The electronics or timer would see power, but no power would be sent to front lights, pump, fill valve, etc..

Post back. Good Luck.

It's probalby less than 7, maybe 8 years old. No power @ all & the circuit is in working order (no tripped breakers, other items on the same 'line' working fine, etc).

It appears to have stopped mid-cycle (hence the standing water).

I am going to have to pull it out from the cabinet & see what's going on back there.

Loop, I don't understand your post.

Loop was expressing his shock because you're one of the default go-to guys for knowledge about home repairs.

Yeah but if you don't know, you have working knowledge and if not that, you know somebody. That is what is shocking to me. I am surprised you don't know somebody who could take care of this for you. I am glad I don't have a dishwasher now.

If somebody else were to have had this problem I would have prob. sent them your way for info or referral. I could not do that with you as it was you. Zzzz was right.

I had a similar problem a few months ago. I pulled the dishwasher out, and there was a leak from the drain hose dripping onto a floor-mounted plug causing a short. Had to replace the hose and let the socket dry out.

Actually, L00p, I did place a call to the A/C guy I do some work for; I had forgotten that they do appliance repairs as well.

He said to check the power source but there's not much else to tell me right now as he had company over.

He did say that most dishwasher repair costs are usually relative to what it costs to replace the entire unit.

He also said that when looking @ buying a dishwasher, it's better to get the kinds that have a sprayer in the bottom AND the top as it will do a better job if you have the bottom improperly loaded.
