Dishwasher Recs

Anyone have a recommendation for dishwashers? I am looking at a Bosch, but am really undecided. My brother has one, and it is so very quiet. The one we have has stopped draining and it seems to be a pump problem, but since it is over 10 years old, I question the value of replacing the pump.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I have a low end whirlpool. It's the loudest f**&^ing thing on earth. I don't think it washes with soap and water. It must blast the dirt away with the vibrations and sounds it makes.

It cleans dishes very well, however.

My dishwasher is about 10 feet away from where I watch TV. It's a Maytag and it is too loud. I should have bought the Bosch or Asko? If you have the discipline to run the ting at 2:00 a.m. or it is in a place where you won't hear it anyway then I wouldn't spend the money on the high end ones. I am frequently up at 2:00 a.m. (insomniac) so the dishwasher is pretty much always messing with my ability to watch the idiot box.

Sears is offering a great deal on a GE Nautilus right now - it's not the lowest-end but sort of in the lower middle. It has the touch-pad buttons, dual spray arms, etc. - normal MSRP $370, currently on clearance sale for $228. We are probably gonna buy one soon.

GE has made big strides in quality control over the past few years since new management came in and overhauled the company.

my parents put in a nice Bosch in their beach house.. it is very quiet...

we bought a Fisher & Paykel for the house we're remodeling.. ******* wife had to have the fanciest thing on the planet.. it also is about the only model we could find that fits our huge *** dinner plates... that is how we wound up justifying a damn $1400 dishwasher..
