FYI for Dish or Sling customers

Remember back 10 years ago when the LHN was billed as some sort of huge game changer, that would give Texas the upper hand forever, sort of like a Ring of Power that would control all life?

Instead it's a hard to find, often removed niche network for early games against hired teams, or Friends and Family sports like women's soccer, rowing, and hopscotch.

I guess it still provide Texas money - which is then used to pay off football coaches that got fired, so no impact there either.

Ha, I love LHN because I watch it when available at a hotel and since I do not have on Comcast at home it is not so repetitive to me. :bevo:

ESPN is gone as well.
Yearly contractual disputes.
Do we get a rebate for losing channels?
Fans are the ones that suffer.
If Dish is still operating as when I had them a few years ago, be persistent...you WILL get some manner of credit. I think the last time was a year of one of the movie channels at no charge...

Hard to know who is the biggest ******* in these corporate tiffs. We've all been through it with multiple providers. In my mind this is the inevitable result of mergers resulting in mega-entities, who can throw their weight around. And, it's us the viewer who gets truly screwed. Long term I would like to ditch the TV habit and go find a life. In the short term, I'm needing to find another carrier. I want to see Longhorn Womens volleyball, Longhorn womens basketball, and the rest of the football season. Looking like Directv streaming might be my best option.

The only reason I had sling was LHN and the only reason I want LHN is Longhorn baseball in the spring. I am canceling sling and will have to find something by February to get my baseball fix.

FWIW, I was able to stream the WV game
on Sling in Mexico, through a VPN. That’s no small feat. I couldn’t connect through the Fox Sports app using Cox, but that may be a Cox (not user friendly) issue.

Though Sling might be the David here battling Disney as Goliath, I subscribed to Sling solely for LHN. Sling can die on their moral high ground hill - I cancelled the subscription. Looks like DirectTV Stream is the only option.

All of the articles I read said it was basically a "timing error" and not a hostile negotiation between Dish/Sling and Disney. Both sides will turn it into that for the sake of public opinion, but it really came down to a couple of lawyers not knowing which date to finalize for the deal.

Now if we can only figure out why Bally's won't just put their damn sports channels on TV packages...

Sling is not really a standalone company...they are under the Dish banner. Not that it matters if they don't find some middle ground, although it is difficult to believe that Dish is about to screw up a matter that costs them MANY customers...

No LHN at this point means you aren't missing much. They already aired their two football games for the season. Baseball doesn't start for a while. Is volleyball the only thing to air for the rest of 2022?
