Disch-Falk beer garden?

I was talking to one of the gatekeepers at the game Wednesday, and asked him what the plan was for the big grassy area behind the concourse that stretches out along left field. He said the plan was to have a beer garden there. Made it sound like there would be no club or foundation requirement, there would just be a small charge each time you entered. Maybe this is common knowledge, but it's the first I've heard about it. Anyone have more details, like when they plan on opening it, and whether it will be open to everyone?

can you take beer out of that 'area'?
i'd probably rather just go back to the tailgate to schwill for free

What are the rules minutiae that allow them to sell beer at spots like that, in the club at DKR, etc.? Why don't they just open it all up? Big XII rules?

I thought that would be a no-no, since it is an on-campus facility.

BTW, watched UTEP play Memphis in hoops at the FedEx Forum in Memphis in Feb. and they were selling beer AND Jack Daniels. Nice

alcohol has been sold at on campus facilities for at least thirty-five to forty years.

It is Big XII policy that does not allow alcohol to be sold at league sporting events, unless it is served in "Club" areas.

the thing in the mail says it doesn't start until the Kansas series and it's open only to Longhorn Foundation members. Passes arrive in the mail soon according to your donor level.

You could also buy beer at the UH games...at the Astrodome. I also have vague remembrances of beer being sold at the TEXAS/blowu and SMU games, prior to the breakup of the SWC.

Similarly, they have been selling alcohol on the UT campus for decades. I don't understand why it can't be sold at games or special events. There are only a few things in life that I am really good at and consuming large quantities of beer is my God given talent. It helped me get through (or over) many a stats class while on campus.

Got my tickets in the mail - it'll be called Billy Goat Hill. It starts with the Kansas game. Opens 1-1/2 hour before first pitch, closes at 7th inning stretch. Will also be available during post season. The tickets are little business cards that have numbers 1-20 across the bottom - I assume for punching.

Food and beverage available for purchase. Will have TVs showing the game. So it sounds similar to the hospitality tents they have had in the past during regionals.

Dates open:

Kansas Mar 14-16
Nebraska mar 28-30
Rice Apri 1
Ok St Apr 18-20
Baylor

yeah, I think so. i made the Pan Am game about the 6th inning, but it was cold and I figured you to be too delicate to handle such conditions.
