DirecTV Installation

Still trying to decide whether to get DirecTV or just go with TW. I know the decision is easy for most, but I'm an idiot and just know what a ******* pain it was to wire my old apt. for Dish Network.

In my old apt. the installation guy would not tap into our existing wiring and made us run wires throughout the place. My new place in Austin is a duplex, wired for cable throughout. With the installation guys tap into that wiring or have to run jacks to each room we want?

If you are going to have more than one receiver, they will probably run cables to each room, because the signal on satellite is split in a different way than cable. But if you get the free installation, who cares?

If you have a large tv, definintely go with Directv (satellite has higher resolution signal than cable). Also, they offer a lot more channels for less. Usually you can get installation for free.

Dunno, for my installation, they were pretty adamant to have a continuous length of cable from the dish to the receiver. Not sure you can acheive that with your existing cable.

oh and i keep forgetting that one of the main reasons i wasn't going to get directv was because i'm not going to have a landline.

does anyone have experience with directv working with vonage?

i've read that you MUST have a phoneline for the NFL Sunday Ticket. If so I probably won't go through the hassle of getting it b/c there's no possible way i'm getting a phoneline.

Edit - I had a novel idea and called DirecTV. I was told that you only need the phoneline to order PPV through the remote. I was also told that you don't need a phoneline for the NFL Package either. In fact, the rep said "I know because my daddy had the NFL package last year and he didn't have a phone installed." So there, her daddy is proof!
