All the freshmen pitchers have good stuff.
It's a matter of command of their pitches on
a consistent basis that will make them effective
as starters or relievers.
French has shown the ability to do that the best
so far, with Curtis next although he has been
mostly out of the bull pen.
Peters could be a possible replacement for Milner
next year as a left handed utility pitcher if not
a starter.
If Jacquez can get command of his slider and gain some strength in the off season for stamina he
will make a good Sunday starter.
The total disappearance of Josh Urban has
been puzzling for me. I thought he would
contribute this year, but I only remember him
pitching once this season.
Did he get hurt, is he in the coaches doghouse about something, or do they think he is worse
than Dicharry and Bellows?
He showed fairly effective on occasion last year
and seemed ready to do more this season.
Of course some improvement in the infield would
help too. It's hard enough on freshmen or any
pitcher for that matter to have to keep getting those
extra outs that should have been recorded.
But it's particularly tough on freshmen who are
still getting their feet on the ground in big time
college baseball.
