Digital Phone from TWC

Anybody using this? It would save us some money, but I'd want to know more about it's quality, reliability, etc.

Sharing any experiences (good or bad) would be appreciated.

Use Vonage, Lingo, or one of the many other VOIP providers out there. TWC is even more expensive.

I use Lingo - 20/month. Works great. About the only potential problem is that when your internet connection is down, phone doesn't work. Still a great deal.

what's the story on calling 911 with this setup?

Can you fax with VOIP? I have to keep my SBC line because I work from home and I have to send the odd fax to a luddite customer or two.

Lingo sets it up so that if you dial 911 it rings to the local authorities, not 911. They also have an address for you so that the cops/firemen know where you are calling from.

You can fax with a Lingo account as well.

time warner is too expensive. Another option is packet8. for unlimiting local and long distance the total monthly charge with taxes is 20.55. You get a local number with all the features like voice mail, caller is, 3-way calling etc.

chances of surviving a heart attach drop 10% every minute- a house fire doubles in size every three minutes. I'd keep a cell phone handy (and know my address) just in case.
