I am dictating this for fall using dragging. As you can see there are some Ayers, but I am dictating today nonstandard window.
I am now dictating into "DragonPad" which is a self-contained word processor within dragging natural speak. As you can see, but fidelity is higher, but you have to cut and placed into the document that you are working on. As far as I can tell, it is equivalent to typing 80 words/min. The benefit other than saved cost for transcription services is immediate proofing. I also have a cold, which may be interfering with fidelity.
Great suggestions, and I appreciate it. I wasn't very clear, however, on what we're looking for. We are a law firm that is looking to move to digital dictation and transciption from the old tape method. In other words, I want to dictate something digitally and be able to email it to my secretary so she can transcribe it and send it out.
bevorules, my above post was made using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9.5, the 1st paragraph dictating into the reply box on hornfans, which it recognizes as a "nonstandard" window. The second paragraph is dictating into the "dragonPad" window, which is more reliable. If you use a wordprocessor or legal software "supported" by Dragon, it will be more reliable. The more you use it the more accurate it gets.
Once you get it trained expect 95% accuracy at 80 wpm or so. If you are not patient, do NOT do this. If you have partners who are not patient, do NOT do this, as they will abandon it and go back to the old system, and you'll either go back w them or be stuck w the relative inconvenience of the voice recognition software AND the high cost of transcription services.
I think the two main brands are Sony and Olympus. I have a Sony and it is pretty easy to use. We use it to record meetings and interviews not for dictation. I think it exports to WAV files which can be played in windows media player easily.
Are there decent recorders that will allow you to stop and rewind and then record over like the 'old fashioned' tape recorders do? Am I making sense? You know how you dictate, and then rewind to listen to what you said or maybe even rewind to record over what you said?
Also, on the secretary end, right now, they have those transcription machines that they press with their feet to stop and start it........is there anything like that to hook into the computer?
