What are the best or mid level memory cards for dig. cameras. i just don't want to buy some **** low end mem card thats going to **** up.

want to get a pretty high memory one though, 512mb or 1gb min.

thanks

I have a Sandisk 1gb card and have had zero problems with it. I also have a Viking 256mb card that has given me no troubles either. I got the Sandisk as a gift so I don't know how much it costs.

Crucial has a 1 gig CF for $75.

Good article about card brands/manufacturers

I have 3 Sandisk cards (256, 516 & 1gb). No problems ever. Also have a 1gig microdrive, with no problems on it in 2 plus years but microdrive popularity was wained with the fall of CF prices. I have 4 other cards of various sizes. Can't remember the names of any but have never had a complaint.

Given the cameras you were looking at, you don't need to be concerned.

The AF system (contrast comparison), buffer system and continuous shooting speed are just too slow for it to matter for you. You won't notice a difference while shooting between painfully slow memory and blazing fast memory.

I second the SanDisk Compact Flash Cards. I have a 512MB Ultra II and its works great...no problems what so ever.

Here's the 1Gig Ultra2 card for $83....pretty damn good price. $50 for the 512MB

My current biggie is a 1GB Lexar 80x WA (too bad the WA isn't effective in the Canon DSLRs like the Nikons)

I've used in the past w my Nikon 5700 the following:
16MB Lexar (8x)
64MB Kingston (speed?)
128MB Lexar (12x)

Anything past the camera write speed is wasted on the writing end, but in a card reader it makes a difference, even if the pics were taken with a slow *** POS P&S.

Get educated on CF cards, and how they perform in different cameras (mostly DSLRs in the comparisons): here:The Link

WA = Write Accelerated

It's not supported by many cameras, but it's still a fast card without using the WA - check the link in my first post for actual bench tests.

Does anyone know about the one made by PNY Technologies?

When I went to Best Buy the other day, they were out of the Scandisk, & the sales girl assured me the one made by PNY was excellent quality. Since it was only $40 for the 512, I was a little skeptical about the quality. The girl said it was only that cheap because it was a new product & that it would be $70 in a week or so.

I have 10 different brands of cards and have never had one bit of problems with any of them. I take up to 5 megapixel pics and I have never had one issue at all. Not sure if higher end cameras would notice a difference but I doubt that is what you would be using.

Find the cheapest and buy it.
