different perspective on Ebola

This article claims that the US is "trouncing" ebola, and that the government has by-and-large responded appropriately. While I'm not as ready to pronounce victory as the author seems to be, I think he's probably right.

We live in an enormous country with thousands of hospitals, clinics, university health centers, etc. Every one of those institutions has spent years (and untold dollars) preparing to contain whatever infectious disease may crop up. With such a large number of people and institutions in the mix, a perfect response is unrealistic. The CDC has competently coordinated the response, and deserves tremendous praise for their skilled actions and long hours.

The rest of the government deserves some credit, too -- for staying out of the way. Thankfully, Congress and the White House are too incompetent to act quickly. Doing nothing and letting the CDC do its job just was just what the doctor ordered.

There is a line in a Cactus Cafe Thread that is relevant. More Americans have been married to Kim Kardashian than have died from the Ebola. I think it's unquestionable that being hit with Ebola would be more painful than having to be part of a bizarre California family living tortured lives on the small screen. Of course, married to a Kardashian the pain would linger and fester for a long time.

If we're "trouncing Ebola" why does another health care professional, Dr. Craig Spencer of Doctors Without Borders" have Ebola? He is presumably an "expert" who went to W.Africa to fight Ebola and brought it back to NYC! After arriving in the city he went bowling, rode the subway, and jogged in the park. Nice.

Somewhat related on 60 mins last night they had several other Presby nurses who also treated Duncan.
he lied and kept lying. I don't know why . He clearly came here to get free medical care. and he got over a million$ worth .. Those nurses and docs tried their best.
but the most interesting 'fact/" was when one of the nurses attending him said he died Sat Oct 4.
The hospital released a statement Oct 8 that Duncan had died that morning.
Was the delay tied to the experimental drug they tried on him?
