'Did you see a Longhorn on the tail?'

Ask any sports fan who the biggest d-bag is in sports journalism, and you will find this **********:

I don't have an issue with most of the article, although he does what any journalist is apparently trained to do, which is admit that an issue actually wasn't really Young's fault and then go ahead and blame him for it anyway. I'd say there's also a lot of assumption about Young somehow being afraid to go out on the field until he got a pep talk? Hmmm don't know about that one.

The comment on Mack I think was ridiculous, but pretty typical lazy journalism. Wow, Cedric Benson and Vince Young both are int he news with issues, they both went to Texas, so Mack Brown must coddle his players! (Never mind the vast majority of them who have done just fine at the next level with no issues to speak of.)

They are not coddled they are spoiled, but in a good way. We should use the VY and Rickey situations as a recruiting ad. Our athletes are beloved in Austin. They are treated waaaay better than any NFL athlete. There are hoards of fasn of all ages who would kill to get an autograph and who support them to the very end. At the same time there are almost no *** holes who want to constantly bag on them. Being a UT football player in Austin is everything good about being an athlete/celebrity outside of Austin, but without all the bad crap to go with it. No papparazzi and no d-bags ragging on you. You think papers will sell in Austin if Bohls starts calling Colt a wuss!! I think not, his *** would be on the street by Monday.

I chalk it up to more educated fans who feel like they have a personal stake in these athletes, not like the NFL where every *** bag who lives near Pittsburg is a Steeler fan so he thinkgs he can call Rothlesburger a wuss because he has a hardhat painted black and gold.

I have read a few articles on the subject and this is by far my favorite.

I think that perhaps throwing VY as starter so early might have hurt his development.

But one thing VY has to learn is that he will never be loved like he was here. Even if he wins 2 super bowl rings, he might still get booed. The NFL is more fickle than college.

But he has to learn that getting booed isn't the worst thing in the world. He cannot be so sensitive to fan criticism. Something that I don't think he can learn from Coach Brown because honestly Coach Brown doesn't know how to deal with criticism well himself.

guess that article explains why Jerry doesn't draft Longhorns. Funny he didn't name either of the two guys. What would they worry if they were named? Name them.

I was not aware that Cal had courses for the learning disabled so this guy could attend, hmmm.

I guess guys like Ahmard Hall are problems too. We need to stop these kids from fighting and defending our country overseas and then coming back and getting their degrees. And then go to the NFL, how dare them? Where is his story, esp. on 9/11, nationally?

Where is Cory Reddings story as a family man who plays all positions on the D Line without complaint or issue?

Oh yeah, this would put Horns in a positive light. Better to saturate detractors and fans too lazy to form their own opinion with ********.

That 2004 Cal team earned the Holiday Bowl with a piss poor performance against a mediocre Southern Miss team. And then they showed they did not even belong there with a woeful performance against a Tech team that we beat. Anyone who still refers to Mack as "begging for votes" is a dickweed to be ignored.

Mack's worst instance of "coddling" was when he shielded Chris Simms from the media, answering questions for him, etc. That was not his finest hour, but I guess he decided Simms needed to be protected or something.

But in the cases of Ricky Williams, Cedric Benson & Vince Young, I think it's a testament to Mack's ability that he was able to coach guys with such "unique" personalites, & mold them into great players. Any coach would love to have three "problem players" like those.
