Well this kid can flat out score, and it would be a change from all of the PG's that we've had in the past since Jamie Carey as far as the score first mentality. She looks like a kid who can step in and play right away. She averages 24pts per game which should translate to about 15-17 per on the D-1 level. The good thing about her is that she can shoot, and no matter what level you play on, if you can shoot you can shoot. Optimistic about this one.
No question we can use another option at PG, esp with Cassie returning from an injury. The South Plains site shows her at 17.2 pts per game, and the leading scorer on a squad that struggled this year, finishing the season at 9-20. Overall her stats are 17.2 pts, 2.7 rbs, 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Interestingly, while she leads the team in scoring and steals, she's second in assists. As utfann says that's probably because she has a shoot-first mentality, but she actually averaged more TO's than assists, or 3.4 per game. She's obviously going to have to take better care of the ball; if it's been a problem at the JUCO level, it could be a much bigger issue against Div I (and Big 12!) competition. But I'm sure the staff is on top of it and will have her ready to go this Fall. First things first though - let's get an official announcement regarding her transfer.
There is typically an official release on TexasSports.com for any new LOI signing. Perhaps Coach Aston is waiting on another recruit to make a decision so as to issue only one press release . . .
