Did Wacker Leave?

Maybe this is old news....??? He's still listed in the Judson High staff directory.

He tore up his knee against Baylor in the Heart o' Texas

Ok, I get it! Wasn't sure where this was going! But, yes, I remember that fateful night....was listening to the game on the radio & in disbelief of the turn in fortune at that moment. I'm sure Abe took that to his grave....RIP!

January 26, 1982....we were 13-0 going into Waco & I believe ranked in top 5...Wacker's knee is destroyed....we win 2 games the rest of the season! The rest is history....

Abe wasn't even there that fateful night. He was on the road to Oklahoma for his mother's funeral and was listening to the game on his car radio. Bad year for A E.

I'm actually old enough to remember that. Thanks for that little jaunt down memory lane.

I can still remember the Carlton Cooper years. Back when we got guys like Raynard Davis and Patrick Fairs, we thought we'd really taken the next step...

Was it Worthington that was the cheerleader that ended up playing that first year under Weltlich?

Before Wacker went down we beat Houston and Arkansas by double digits.

Beat Houston 95-83 on the road at Hofheinz in a game that wasn't close. That Houston team was loaded with Clyde Drexler, Hakeem Olajuwon, Larry Micheaux, Michael Young, Benny Anders, and Reid Gettys to name a few. They went to the final four that year and it started the Phi Slama Jama years.

An old HF thread with a bit more history on Wacker and that time period.....

It was someone else because Worthington was a scholarship player that was pretty damn good in HS. He wasn't much of a rebounder or defensive specialist, but he could shoot. He would be the hero of this year's team.

A few years ago he came out with the claim that his mother had an affair w/JFK and he was an illegitimate son of his. I think the Kennedys and DNA proved otherwise.

Re: Did Wacker Leave?

I remember a gas station owner in Irving used shoe polish to put this on his shop windows after Wacker got hurt:

Poor Abe! Lost his Wacker! Go Frogs!
