Did she murder my Nano?

My friend tried to do me a solid during a recent weekend trip...

I didn't bring my usb cable to charge my ipod nano, so she plugged my nano into her iphone charger (same connection).

Now, my nano is dead. When I plug it into my laptop, it does not start charging, and my computer doesn't recognize the nano, fire up itunes, etc.

When she first plugged the nano into the iphone charger, it looked like it was charging just fine. Has anyone experienced this??

no, but it its less than a year old take it to an apple store and they will give you a new one.

if its older than a year, they might give you a new one anyway, just tell them what happened. the two cables are the exact same, so you didnt do anything wrong.

Have you tried this yet?

I have charged multiple iPods off of my phone charger without issue, so hopefully you'll be able to get it back with these steps.

I have a nano and this has never happened to me.... but are you saying that it was dead and all you did was toggle the hold and it fixed it?

Happened to me a well. That was the same fix for me.

I finished going through the process. I have not had my nano go dead but I have had it (many times) not turn off. And I do the same thing. toggle hold on/off. Push center and Menu at the same time for like 5 seconds. Reboots it. SOunds like it is a fix-all.
