Did Jake Smith Quit Too?

He had 3 games to prove himself, was targeted sufficiently and failed to produce when he had to produce.

With everything else going on with this team getting away from it probably is the best for him.

Based on the rest of the roster, that doesn't seem like a plausible reason for him not playing.
According to GameDay crew he was scratched because of a hamstring injury. I hope he doesn’t go into the portal. Last week was his first game back. The dropped pass hurt, but I feel he is still a solid receiver. Herman went away from him last year after he fumbled a punt return. I hated that for him because he was having a good year until then. I do hope he stays. I think him and Whittington will make a nice tandem next year.

I believe he only missed the Tech game. Included in his playing was a fumbled punt reception and running a 3 yard route when 4 yards were needed for a first down. Stuff you would like for a second year player not to make. Anyway Whit won the position today.

Did research it, and from what I read, he didn’t play against Tech.

He missed Tech with a hamstring, played last week vs. TCU, but not to be seen today. Someone posted on another thread that he deleted all his UT related pics, etc. off his Instagram account. So...

I certainly think would be a pretty big loss for the offense next year
Nope, that's a guy that's easily replaced. Not the tallest. Quick, but has had drops in his short time here that were costly. Now some hamstring problems. Like Jordan Shipley, would need to be here for 5-6 years to then "dominate" as a 23 year old.

You’re going to vilify this guy for a dropped pass, yes a crucial one, but then what about Ingram, he dropped a big one against LSU last year, fumbled against TCU and then a big fumble today. He was still in there at the end of the game.

Don't bother. He was carrying Herman's dirty laundry before he coached his first game and is now bashing the talent we have to protect him. Nothing will change his mind.

How on earth does the HS Gatorade offensive POY turn into dispensible talent? Piss poor coaching who doesn't understand how to develop nor maximize his talent. He'll go somewhere else and light up defenses just like Shane.

He dropped passes last year. Now he’s (supposedly) pouting because Whittington got the nod?

National high school player of the year—not just for WRs, but the top national player at any position. Jake has mad talent.

Whittington is BETTER! Case closed !
Wow, you are good. Whittington plays one, let me repeat one full game in his college career and you are able to make a definitive statement like that.

Saw Money playing spelling Whittington, guess he is better too.
