Did I just hear Rattler is going to South Carolina

Wow, Venables or however you spell his name, is going to have his work cut out for him inheriting the ou program after the Riley defection.

Bunch of player portals to USC, S. Carolina, etc., recruit de-commits, probably some serious depth problems already brewing...

Yep. It has the potential to devastate the program. Venables is going to have to play it as close to perfect as possible.

Furthermore, on Sunday I noticed in the DMN recruiting update for 2022: out of the National Top 100, ou had 1 or maybe 2 commits and they were way down the list - like below 75. That was not the case the last few years with Riley....

Maybe grim times coming for ou.... maybe we finally beat these cocksuckers this fall !!!o_O

Speaking of, remember one cannot spell the word "**********" without o u !!

OU will be better than "fine". They have survived the Orange Bowl fiasco, John Blake, Howard "No Scotch No Scholarship" Schnellenberger, Donnie Duncan, the in-game wars between Chuck Long & Cale Gundy, they will survive one down recruiting year before they reload.

:hookem2:

Rattler might as well have dated his transfer portal request from the Cotton Bowl. He was gone whether Riley was in Norman or not. That will not hurt. Losing the TE to South Carolina will hurt. But, TE's can be replaced. Keeping Caleb Williams is the big thing. It's not 100% sure that he's coming back but I think he does.

OU has a top 10 recruiting class based on 15 recruits. We lost two big recruits - Dindy to aggy and Raleek Brown to USC. We also picked up some good ones. Riley is currently ranked behind Kansas in recruiting and 12th in the Pac 12. He should be fine in the long term but I'm shocked he's not just blown up out there.

I think Stoops proved a while back that motivated 3/4 stars that are coached up can do just fine. Sometimes a 5 star comes with too much baggage and a lack of hunger/drive to actually be effective when **** gets tough.

Bubba,

I wish Rattler had stayed because I think he would have been a constant problem/disruption in Norman and on the sidelines. I think him being a 1,000 miles away with Beamer is a great thing for OU. I look for him to be in the portal again next year.

He'd have to sit for a year if he wanted to transfer again. Not going to happen.

He'll be happy in Columbia about 45 minutes. Shane is no offensive genius, so I hope the kid goes to class and gets his degree.

I don't know. I think he got some humbling this year. I think he'll work hard and be a good QB for Beamer. Maybe not Heisman good but he's got some serious arm talent - Ewers level arm talent. :)

I could see him making NFL rosters. The offense that Riley ran with him did not suit his skill set in my mind's eye. He would be awesome on a Big 10 type of offense. he was better as a freshman before the Heisman talk started and the NIL $ started.

Yeah, let’s not bury poor ole OU just yet. The one recruit we briefly stole from them didn’t last long. We could have used a fast, 225 pound LB right out of HS.

Edit: oops, I forgot we did mange to steal a DB from OU. I was referring to McKenzie.
