DFW People: TWC or Verizon or...

Which setup should I get for phone, Internet, and television? I would prefer a bundle from the same company for ease, but if you know a cheaper and/or more reliable way to use separate carriers for the different products, let me know.

I've had cable before so I'm not worried about difficulties with TWC. Verizon seems to be the best bang for the buck, but I'm unfamiliar with how the FiOS works and if it's reliable. My neighborhood doesn't get AT&T UVerse.

I've never had a Dish setup, but if you can get me to appreciate it for television and tell me what else you do for Internet, I'm all ears.

I've had Verizon FIOS for internet/phone a few years and am actually having the television service installed today. I've been a Directv customer for 12 years, but the cost is getting absurd, so I decided to complete my Verizon bundle.

I'll pass along a few things I've learned.

1) The Verizon service is reliable and good. I haven't used the TV service yet, but my friends have and like it. The internet is reliable and fast.

2) If you want HD, you're going to pay more than $99 for the bundle. The ExtremeHD package is $109, but worth it, IMO. They don't carry as many HD channels as Directv (150 vs. 55), but they will add more as time goes on, I'm sure.

3) For that $109, you'll also get the faster 20/5 Mbps internet speeds. I've been running with the 10/2 Mbps, and even that has been sufficient, so I'm sure the upgrade will be sick.

4) The lease fee for the equipment is where they get you. For an HD-DVR, it's $15.99/receiver. It's less for a regular set-top box, but I needed DVR in both rooms.

I would call and order by phone. I was able to get them to waive the activation fee and give me $30 off per month for another 6mos. This was in addition to the $150 cash back deal. That $150 comes in the form of a VISA Debit card, by the way, and not as a credit to your account. I tried using my charms to get them to waive one of the DVR fees, but I was unable to pull that string.

Good luck, friend.

Sounds about what I'd have to pay for pretty much anything else, too. I also saw that you only get the discount thing ($100-150 cash back) if you do the contract, so I'll have to bite the bullet I guess.

Anyone else have better luck elsewhere?

In case it wasn't obvious, I meant the lease fee was $15.99 per month for each HD-DVR. Sorry if that was confusing.

it is also extra for fox sports, extra for movies. my deal ended up being 160$ without hbo but with phone/internet/tv from fios. get your deal in writingn with those fios ********, just sayin. I thought I signed up for a 99$ triple play deal. taxes,fees,set-top boxes, screw you.

The service, picture quality, etc were nice though with fios.

I'm paying 128$ with TWC now for all three after my 6 month deal ran out. it is ok. still seems like a lot.
