Unless some of our other post players have an epiphany, Dex is going to be a big factor in how far this team goes this year ...along with AJ, the little engine that could.
he's starting to look somewhat light on his feet. two years ago i'm not sure that i ever would have uttered those words. dex deserves good things--he has worked his ars off.
I also think the team is starting to recognize the value of getting the ball into him. The more he becomes a force inside, the more it's gonna open things up for everyone else.
I agree that playing time is the key, with stamina and foul trouble being factors. If he can stay on the floor, he will show off the "upside" that he has teased us with for two years.
What I liked about Dex was his quickness near the basket, his foot work when posting up, and that drop step was nice. The baby hook was good, needs to work his left hand near the rim. The 10-12 baseline jumper was excellent and the touch when shooting was nice and soft.
Most of all I enjoyed his attitude around the basket and he looked like he was having fun, something that the rest of the team needs to do is have fun with the game.
Dex is just scratching the surface of his potential. He is now playing enough to relax and progress in the games.
I'd like to see some give and go's with Dex at high post. Also like to see some pick and roll's with Dex doing the screening.
Key thing for Dex is to keep losing weight and getting in the best possible shape.
Anybody understand why the horns use execise bikes instead of elliptical machines? Elliptical machines are far superior to stationary bikes wrt aerobic conditioning. Obviously you have to get one of the real big elliptical machines for a big guy like Dex.
