A pass comes into Dexter in post. He catches the ball up high, but then lowers the ball and bounces it on the floor before making his move to the basket. This gives the defense time to set and either the ball get's stripped or he misses the shot (which became better defended and as such, more difficult), or he gets fouled with no chance at a 3 point play. In most cases the bounce is not needed and undermines the scoring opportunity. I imagine it's an involuntary thing, because I can't believe in watching film he doesn't see the price he pays for bouncing the ball.
