Amazing what happens when our guards get the ball to him. Mason with 9 assists - he's a true point guard, I don't care what anyone else says. Dex has good things ahead of him.
Yes, it was great to see Dex doing so well. If they will get him the ball, he will put it in the bucket. He also has a nice touch on free throws (a precious commodity on the horns this year). Dex also got 10 rebounds in just 14 minutes of play.
The most important thing for Dex is that he get in the best possible physical shape. He is pretty explosive for 4 or 5 minutes. He needs to lose another 20 pounds without losing any explosion.
And what made the whole difference in his game is that he hit his free throws. Great looking smooth stroke even the announcers commented on.
I'm going to continue to harp on this point. Free throws are the difference from bad from good teams, good from great, great from champs, Memphis from champs. Got to hit them.
God, in that Villanova game the guards were dribbling miserably in circles for about 20 seconds while Sexy had freakin' Scottie Reynolds stonewalled in a hole down in the post and they didn't even look at him...I was literally screaming at the TV for them to wake the hell up.
