Could easily happen. There's no happier second rounders right now than Jarvis Varnardo, Da'Sean Butler, and Dexter Pittman. They are basically assured of a roster spot for the NBA champions the next few years.
Not only will he likely be a starter (or at least see significant playing time), he'll benefit from opposing defenses who must concentrate on stopping Lebron, DWade, and Bosh. He should get a lot of great looks - easy basket on assists and trash rebounds.
Not to mention the very legit chance to win some championships.
No doubt it is a great spot for him. I hope he takes full advantage of it.
One has to wonder how long and how hard Pittman can go in an NBA schedule. Even after 4 years of training to get in shape for Texas, he finished his senior year with less than 20 minutes a game and less than 650 minutes played as a senior. That's with Texas playing every 4th day (34 games in 123 days).
Now he's asked to play every other day (Heat regular season lasted 168 days last year) in 48 minute games at a much faster pace.
Good luck with that. I don't expect Pittman to be much of a factor in the NBA for quite some time. I hope he gets there, but I don't see him being anywhere near there yet.
Agree bierce. NBA basketball doesn't fit Pittman at all. They call fouls even more randomly than in college at times and the pace is so much faster. And they, like, play longer and more games.
...also a lot of the ticky-tack fouls called on Pittman in college are let go in the NBA. Pittman will be able to use his size to his advantage in the NBA game !!
