Does anyone know where I can pick dewberries/blackberries in Austin vicinity. I don't care if it's one of those pay as you pick farms either......

Go wander around some public areas near some of the local creeks. I'm pretty sure they grow wild around here. I'm also pretty sure we've got (or will have) a bunch behind our office (we're on Walnut Creek in NE Austn...).

Watch out for poison ivy/poison oak though....

It may be too late for wild dewberries, but I saw a piece about a week ago on TV about a place in McDade with pay as you pick Blackberries and they were huge and look great. Now, if I could just remember the name? I seem to recall that it's almost in downtown McDade. I'm sure some of the locals can give you directions.

you can buy some from Curly. He runs a fruit/veggie stand in Oak Hill over by Red's Gun Range. He gives you a free peach with each visit. Last time i was therer he had peaches, tomatoes and blackberries.

There is one specific place in the rough on the 3rd hole right before the pond. Careful if you go over there because there were a nest of snakes there not too long ago.

I usually find a lot of them near the low spots on the course or near the ponds.

You have to be looking for either the berries or your ball in order to see them. There not too easy to find. Hope that helps.
