I have a good feeling about this visit. I wish that he could have visited when the students were there. I actually like the fact that he visited the other schools first and the good guys last. I also like that he is visiting after a lot of the major awards have been given out. I say we have Coach Boom and Rak meet him at the airport with all of Rak's hardware and let him get the feel of a few of them. I would love nothing more than to have him commit before Xmas and be our guest at the Fiesta Bowl so he can see first hand what he will be a part of. Come on Mack, work your magic!!
Austin is not going to beat Phoenix or So Cal weather. Just hope that this weekend it is not bad. People get spoiled of that weather this time of year.
I remember in 1967 RB Jim Bertelsen came for his visit about this time and he wanted to get away from Wisconsin cold weather and he came here on the coldest days of the year. He still chose to come here and he was a great RB for us 1969 to 1971 and a key runner in our two NC years.
One of the reasons he came was because the coaches and staff and everyone were unhappy with having had three straight 6 - 4 seasons and he realized we played to win so he wisely decided to come here. I think he still lives in Austin.
Per ESPN blog, Mack has had the team doing Longhorn Drills the past few days. This is what we called 'Bloody Alley' at my high school. Pretty muc match up 3 o and d linemen. give one guy the ball and, at my school, one LB. Then see who wants it more. From what was written the team is showing off the bloody jearseys in the locker room.
Just take Kennard in to see the jearseys and tell him, this ain't no pansy west coast opperation. You want to hit some people in the mouth, come play for Texas. Then let him watch Rak bench press and he will sign on the line.
I drive through Hudson, Wisconsin a couple of times a year and I always remind my wife it is the home of the guy that scored the winning touchdown in the Big Shootout. I think she is tired of hearing my sole piece of Wisconsin longhorn trivia.
I saw Muschamp, Rak, and at least 3 other guys at Matt's El Rancho today. As they walked by us, Rak was telling one kid to fly straight. I don't know if it was Kennard or not, but he was almost surely in that group.
