This goes way beyond just Ferentz. It looks like almost the whole athletic department could have its hands dirty on this.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Ferentz let go. Iowa probably loses a couple of scholarships over the next 2-3 years and loses a bowl berth for a year if it was something the entire Athletic Department was covering up.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, in comparison to the CU situation a few years ago. I think the CU administration was ready to fire Barnett because of the scandal, but could not find a booster willing to underwrite the buyout (CU was winning). They kept him until 70 - 3, at which point they fired him.

The CU scandal did not get Barnett fired; it just gave him two strikes.

To be a little picky, this thread's title referring to a "sex coverup" sounds like Ferentz was allegedly having dalliances or arranging for players to get some coed booty.

This is an alleged "violence coverup" IMHO much, much worse. Sexual assault of the type described in the article isn't about sex. It's about violence.

Wow, just wow. If these allegations are true, this makes the U. of Iowa look even worse than CU. I seem to recall that most of the problems at CU several years ago were largely due to lack of sufficient oversight by the administration, although Barnett was definitely an *** about the whole Katie Hnida situation. This situation at Iowa goes a step beyond all that though, to outright complicity.

I never really understood all the hype surrounding Ferentz to begin with. It's not exactly like he is the next incarnation of Hayden Fry. What has he done to earn that kind of coin? Other coaches have done much more with far less. Mark Mangino and Ron Zook both immediately spring to mind.

As an Illinois fan, I say this couldn't happen to a nicer school.
