Derrick Rose

Rose looked dominant against Michigan St., but I did not know how he would fare against DJ.

With his performance this weekend, Rose is the most impressive PG I've seen this year. Excellent ball handling skills, good passer and court vision, and a good shooter for his age. Of course, he has two things you can't teach - height and incredible hops. To my untrained eyes, he is a better NBA prospect than OJ Mayo. Depending on a team's needs, he may challenge Beasley for the top spot in the draft.

I wonder if his perfomance today will keep DJ on the 40 Acres one more year? I hadn't watched him much this year but I was impressed.

One thing to consider with DJ is all of the minutes he has had to play this season. Be interested to see how he would be in the postseason next year if he returned and had Balbay spelling him at point for a good 10-15 min a game.

Rose has been considered the 2nd or 3rd pick in the draft all year long.

In addition, OJ Mayo would be drafted ahead of DJ. Jerryd Bayless would be drafted ahead of DJ, and while Eric Gordon isn't a true NBA point guard at this stage of his development, he'd be drafted as a combo guard with the intention of turning him into an NBA point guard at some point in the future, and he'd be drafted ahead of DJ. That's not counting Tywon Lawson, Darren Collison, or anyone else who might come out already in school.

In next year's recruiting class, only Brandon Jennings looks like he'd be drafted ahead of DJ in what will be a very weak class.

DJ needs to do what's right for him, but in terms of his NBA draft stock, it's clear to me he'd be drafted higher next year than this one, depending on who declares for the NBA draft this year.

Well, technically I didn't put Collison and Rose in the same sentence.

I didn't even put them in the same sentence in a figurative sort of way, either.

I didn't even put Bayless, Mayo, and Gordon on the same tier as a potential NBA point guard with Rose, although I think all 4 of them are on a different level in that regard than any other potential guards available in this draft (outside of the international players).

Collison is faster from end line to end line than Augustin. That doesn't make him a better NBA prospect than Augustin, and I happen to think Augustin is leaps and bounds better than Collison as a college point guard at this point, but I still think the possibility remains that after workouts Collison ends up rated higher in the draft. It's not a certainty --- it's not even a probable event. It's merely a possible one in my opinion. Shoot, first Collison would have to enter his name in the draft, and he's going to face the same problems in that regard that Augustin will.

If they dont let Collison tackle with the same authority this weekend, he is going to get ****** in the *** by Derrick Rose. All day.

The kid has grown up in a hurry and Memphis looks lethal right now.

Rose is a sick, sick athlete. He's much more impressive in person than on tv. I didn't appreciate how fast he was or how high he jumped. He had a ridiculous series where he leaped up in the air to snag a rebound (I swear both elbows were at rim level if not higher), and took off dribbling beating nearly everyone down the court and layed it up on the other end jumping over A.J. in the process.

IMO Memphis has the highest upside of anyone in the tournament. If they're on, they're unbeatable. Forget what they say about UNC, Memphis to me is the most impressive team in the tournament by far. They're ******* 37-1 and everybody is sleeping on this fact. I mean when was the last time a team went 37-1 and the first time you realized it was when you read it on here.

In their one loss they were up by 5 with three minutes to go in the game. And for all the naysayers about their schedule check their nonconference record. For the most part Duke was UNC's only real significant challenge before the tournament and we've seen how significant that challenge turned out to be.

Side note: Mason's athletic ability really impressed me in person. He's going to turnout to be a better version of Ivey before its all said and done. His athelticism will allow him to be a defensive ballhawk beginning next year. He was the only person who wasn't intimidated in the beginning (Conner didn't seem to be either, but his 2 fouls came too quickly to say one way or the other).
