Derek Lokey and Jamaal tearing it up in KC

really great to hear.
i'm one that thought jamaal would not fit well in the nfl. i sure hope i'm wrong. congrats to both!

one of the things about charles is his speed with the pads on. i swear they should make everyone run the 40 in full gear. that would be interesting.

notreally.....I'm with ya. I've been on my soapbox about hat for several yrs. It started with watching VY run by supposed faster guys I got to thinking if he runs a 4.5 and they run 4.5 he should always leave everyone but thats in shorts and shoes he may well run a 4.5 in full gear while it slows most everyone else down to a 4.9. As a coach I wanna know what a kid runs in full out football gear, not shorts and track shoes.

Derek Lokey is too short to play in the NFL. This is why he was not drafted.

The above statement is said from the point of view of an NFL scout. Just like Zach Thomas wasn't highly drafted because of his height or lack thereof.

Sometimes the NFL guys get so caught up in looking for the 'prototype' that they fail to evaluate a guy on his actual playing ability.

I'm glad for both of them, however, I think Charles could have made a serious run for the Heisman this year behind a maturing offensive line, with Major as his position coach, and with a defense that will hopefully be giving the offense more opportunities than it did last year. He was just coming into his own, but I understand why he chose to go. Its just that the Heisman is such an exclusive award and when you get a shot at it (along with UT's PR machine), it truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Lokey is one of a few longhorns I was shocked not to see on draft weekend. It is awsome that he now has a chance to see more playing time than many guys picked on the first day. These Texas boys need a little more respect from the NFL.

I was in KC last week and got to hear Jamaal on the local radio. It sounds like things were going well for him. Larry Johnson is taking care of him - making him carry his helmet and bringing him steaks and donuts...

Jamaal said they were trying to get him to "slow down" in the first week of OTAs and learn the system, etc. No, they did not realize how fast he really is. I don't think they know how well he can catch, either.

He's going to make a nice handcuff come fantasy season... I'll have LJ, Selvin, and JC.... mwaaahahahahaha
