It was reported on the local news (KXXV abc) tonight that Tech commit and top national LB recruit Derek David was arrested and jailed for assault and rape. Sad to see someone destroy his high school career as a junior but glad Mack was smart enough to stay clear of this young man a year ago.

btw, just to set the record straight, he was no longer a tech commit as they cut him loose several days ago.

If true he destroyed a lot more than his high school career. More like his life.

Im sure he destroyed some young girls life as well.

damn shame. kid has gone from the #1 recruit in texas, to juco bound, and now possibly to jail.

bishophorn, tt cut him loose as it became very apparent to all the kid had very serious issues--both academically and otherwise.

he had just been dismissed from the rockdale basketball team as an example. for all i know tt could have had advanced knowledge of his upcoming legal problems as well.

the parting of the ways was reported by a number of news outlets prior to his arrest and apparently just not picked up by the writer of the above linked article.

I applaud Tech for realizing things were awry and cutting him loose. You know that if he was not going to jail for a long time he would be OU bound.

Thanks lecturer, I knew he had grade issues but thought TT had checked that out. He has much more serious problems now than just grades.

It's not like Stoops hasn't earned a little jabbing on this issue. But LSU and OkSt should be included in on the fun also.
