We're going to need to cross-train some more LBs (if we haven't already).

Hill may start. Lefau will get a lot of playing time, as will Bush (who has done pretty well before).

The Front 4 on D looks really stout, 1st and 2nd team.

While I think everyone can see "issues" with certain positions, I don't think we've had stronger complete units (especially both sides of the trench) since 2009. To me, it looks like the only problems against Rice will be the ones Sark referred to in the quote. Someone's going to get dehydrated or have a helmet come off during a play, and "next man up" is difficult when people aren't familiar with their role.

I do have a concern about Watts. I know he is a beast on short routes or play against the run. But he can be beat on longer routes. Hope the safety will be there to help. His back up, Muhammad, though a true fresh, seems to have the "it" factor from what I have heard. OTH, I do appreciate Watts experience. We'll see how this shakes out.

The 1-2 punch of safeties Thompson and Catalon should be tough. It would only be better if there was no targeting rule. Thompson is one of those real hard hitting headhunters UT fields at Safety from time-to-time.

:ut::ut:

Those DC's are certainly very different.
1. Watts will probably start at CB, but Holmes will be the guy against pass oriented teams. Watts is good against the run, but got burned a lot by quick receivers.
2. Campbell will start over Hutson, but Hutson will probably be the 1st off the bench at all 3 interior positions in someone goes down. Neto will have something to say about that pretty soon though.
3. Some DC's have Neyor backing up Mitchell, others have Neyor backing up Worthy. I guess we'll wait and see on that.
4. Baxter is definitely the #2 RB. Apparently he's shown good blocking skills already. Blue is weak at blocking.
5. Collins will move out to DE against running teams and it's probably Murphy over Broughton on the inside.

If our LBs stay healthy, this could be a sick defense (sick in a good sort of way).

The D front could be the best in over a decade or more.

DBU is back, or close to it.

LBs Ford + Hill/Lefau/Bush could be quite good as a unit -- just nobody get hurt.

- Baxter or Brooks will start at RB

- We could see some formations with 3 bigs on the D-Line at the same time - Sweat, Murphy, and Collins

- Bush will start at one LB

- Hill may start at one LB (Hill or Gbenda)

- Lefau is the 1st backup to Ford at the other LB

- Burke will start

I think Coach K is going to have a hard time playing 13 players on defense when the refs are already looking to for anything to throw a flag on Texas for.
