Depressed, Desperate or Resigned?

What is the mood of the campaign leadership in the Clinton campaign? Will they get nasty, increase their resolve, fall apart or what?

She tried to go negative in Wisc and she failed

That was a state she lead big in not that long ago and the kinda state most people weeks ago thought would have been perfect for her

She's ******

On the Dirty Politics Meter of one to ten she's kept it below three. I can envision a lot of nasty stuff she could do that might work in the primary but would almost certainly backfire in time. At the top of the list would be to target Hispanic voters with racial politics. Certainly she can't do that herself but she could give the green light to third parties. One problem she'll have with that approach will be the reluctance of professionals to ruin their career as Democratic advisors. I'm not convinced the integrity of the candidate is the barrier.

I think going negative this year is going to backfire. People just dont want it and its a turnoff with how people feel right now IMO

I think Hillary is going to need a lot of dead people to vote for her to carry Texas and Ohio.

It is probably too late now, but if she somehow rallies and wins the nomination she needs to ditch the marketing wizards that came up with her "Solutions" campaign spiel.

Calling her a ***** and saying she ****** as you comment on people being tired of negative is humorous.

Anyway, she will be gracious at this point.

I know she will hit specifics during Thursday's debate.

But overall, I think she has to be gracious.

Resigned. I'd agree the Clinton's ability to go negative is matched only by Karl Rove. Obama is getting the kid gloves treatment. Seriously..."he won't debate us in Wisconsin" and "he plagiarized the speach" is kids stuff compared to where they could go.

I'd also agree that the times they've waded into the kiddie end of the negative pool the voters have been turned off. This is definately effecting the campaign. Without the ability to go negative they have no choice but to be resigned to their fate.

Hillary is in a trap of her own making. Pat Buchanan offered valid criticism that Hillary allowed Obama to grab momentum when she decided that the smaller states were not important and that she was going to focus on the larger states like New York, California, Texas, and Ohio.

Obama winning all of those states and overtaking her in the delegate count gives him all of the momentum and the money has continued to flow into his campaign while Hillary is having trouble raising money.

She cannot attack his record because he really does not have one. She cannot run on her own record because her claim to fame is cohabiting the White House. She cannot go negative on him because the primary voters look at it as typical Clinton dirty politics. She cannot beat him on charisma or public speaking.

It looks to me like she was investing her campaign dollars in an organization designed to win the general election instead of the party nomination. In her mind, the red states did not matter.
