Dental Insurance

I started a new job a few months back and unfortunately do not have any dental insurance/coverage. Does anyone have any suggestions for dental insurance plans for individuals? Thanks!

And you think that's a good deal? Do they pay a dime for orthodonthia? At what time in the life of the insured will they pay 50% of orthodontia after you have paid many thousands in premiums? How much of the cleaning do they pay? Does it cost $50/mo for toofcleaning? What is the rest going to insure against? Do they pay for stuff that isn't covered by medical insurance?

The mere fact that you paid $600 for about $75 worth of dental cleanings is irrelevant to the risk you would like to avoid, Risk avoidance is a pretty basic part of the progarm though NOT all of what you should look at. What exactly is the risk you would like to avoid? Crooked teeth for darling girls? Not Covered. Broken teeth for rambunctious boys? Not covered.

Sorry if that was insulting, but I would type it again if it would help someone else.

Dental insurance ranks up there with credit disability and title insurance. It's CRAP! If your employer GIVES it to you, it's not a bad deal for you.

Find one single HornFan who can say (and give a little proof - Not wanting a true trial) a dental insurance gamble paid off and I will do something. Pretty good. Like bring world peace.

Nobody spends a life's savings on chemo or a transplant that would be covered by dental. Braces and their cousins cost about 2-3k per child. You will pay that much in 2-3 years in insurance and even then they MIGHT pay back 50%.

I have an opinion that it is not a bet I would make.

Nick no offense taken (although I should take offense

). Actually Nick my daughter just had a few fillings one two surface the others little soft spots and it's over $1,000 (now I know that is retail) and our part will be $200. So I would rather not have dental but it has paid off. BTW he asked about dental insurance not whether he should get it or not. You attorneys.............

Yeah, keep the sugar down, and make sure she never, ever goes to bed with a sugared drink on her nightstand. Also, get one of the electric toothbrushes with timer and make sure she brushes 2X per day for 2 min. ea time and flosses at least 1X per day. Also, I don't know if she uses bottled water, but she should use tap water whenever possible so that she gets fluoride. Finally, sealants may be in order to protect her posterior teeth.
