Give me money! I predicted it earlier that Charlie would go for an in-home with Kris yesterday and not only get him, but also get the commitment of the first defensive player and the recruiter-in-charge for the next class. Charlie did just that. But Demarco waited till his older brother made his pick to not steal any limelight from him. That dude has been Mr. Longhorn all through.
To go to aggyland with his brother, wear aggy clothes and take pictures while throwing sly hookems when standing with aggy players was a classic! Who else has ever done that? It seems the aggy coaches were absolutely pissed. Like Demarco cares!
By the way, for the record, he is an inside linebacker. 5-11, 215, but probably still growing a bit. For now he is a national top-600 type 3-star recruit. But his high school coach Jeff Traylor has always maintained that he is even more talented than Kris Boyd. Charlie seems to agree, as he was the first to offer him. But that was after talking to Demarco for several months. Our staff had told him that they would evaluate a few of his junior games but that an offer would probably come. Then by mid October we said "it is about to come" and finally we offered him Oct 21st.
Well, I think technically, Tim Brewster and FSU probably sent a Fax offer just before our official paperwork reached him the next day. Sneaky Brewster. How about that, the defending national champions and the flagship program of his state making the first offers to a kid!
Demarco clearly felt that we weren't offering just because Kris Boyd was his brother, as he was aware of Texas evaluating him carefully. Meanwhile he started blowing it up in his junior year, and finished the year as the MVP of the state title game. Looks like Charlie and gang did do their evaluation right!
I hope to see him improve more and move up quite a bit during his senior year. At least people seem to expect him to, based on a some recruiting guys' comments I have seen. We shouldn't be surprised if he ends up as a 4-star in the end, like Charles and Elliott. We'll see. He is a player, for sure. So, this was well done by Charlie.
