Dell 20.1 inch Wide Screen Monitor 35% off

Hmmm, maybe should have stepped up to the 20" widescreen...

Dell has some great deals if you keep your eyes open for online coupons.

Just bought a new Dell 19" 1905FP (not widescreen) a few weeks ago for $285 shipped. you can get a bit lower at times if stackable coupons are working.

Online porn looks amazing on it. Fuckin Amazing!

Maybe, maybe not.

Response times are BS numbers. They are a measure of the time it takes to go from 10% brightness white (near black) to 90% brightness white (near white). There is no standard measure for color change times. A 0/100% measure isn't taken. A 25ms screen may actually be have less ghosting than a 16ms screen. Response times are total garbage and for the most part should be disregarded. It's tech spec that is more or less a marketing figure, similar to clock speed on processors and megapixels on digital cameras.

Tenn...

Since response time doesn't mean much, if you play games, you pretty much have to rely on online reviewers' accounts.
If you do serious graphics work, put a high priority on color fidelity information in reviews.

If you don't game or do serious graphics work, you aren't likely to see much of a difference between any of the monitors. There are all sorts of different factors, like contrast ratio, brightness and uniformity but for the most part one monitor isn't going to be a whole lot better than the other and unless there is a particular reason to pay attention to one or more of those factors, I'd reccomment just paying attention to the native resolution, screen size, price and how cool it looks.

I guess what I'm saying is that with the exceptions of color fidelity, pricing and native resolution, subjective viewing is really the only ways to distinguish LCD monitors right now.

Got it today and have to say its friggen sweet.

Question though. I tried hooking it up via DVI connection? but it never registered. However, the analog connection works.
Is the DVI for only particular purposes and do I have to do something special to make it recognize it?

Wow. Free shipping got it to Houston 36 hours after I ordered the thing. That's awesome. I'm not sure how awesome it is of the delivery guy to leave a huge DELL box on my front door when I'm not there though. I usually hate dealing with packages they don't drop off but this could be an exception. Anyways, I'm a big poker player so this thing is sweet for multiple games as well as having a hornfans page the size of a coffee table. I might never get that lazer eye surgery now.
