Deja Kelly 2020 Texas Commit

According to her mom (an AAU coach), Deja averaged a triple-double this season including 31 ppg. I'd like the other 2 to be rebounds and assists but smart money is on rebounds and steals. Considering the number of times the other team plays a 5 on 1 Defense (unsuccessfully) against her - especially after the 1:45 mark in the video - she could probably rack up crazy assist numbers.

wow! beautiful ballhandling and body control. nice shooting touch, too. :smile1:
Looks like a complete player now.

Are you serious 8th grade. Her skill set is better, then most senior's in high school.
We got good one coming to Texas.

Her video is extremely impressive (even ignoring the competition). Use of both hands is remarkable, as at one time I even thought she was left handed. After watching closer, she is right handed but seems equally adept at going either direction dribbling or shooting. That is very advanced for an eight grader. And she has a really sweet shooting stroke.......and a bonafide jump shot. Someone needs to congratulate her parents for outstanding fundamentals development. She may be the BIG point guard we haven't had for a long time. Someone please ask her mom, if Deja can skip a year or two of high school? Five years before she is wearing burnt orange is a long time for us to wait.

Her mother is an AAU coach in San Antonio and has been playing Deja 4-5 years above her age level - when she was a kindergartener she put Deja on her 5th grade team. Not only that but she is a regular at John Lucas skill camps and private training sessions, driving to Houston on weekends for the extra work.
