Deficit over $15 Trillion now

just three years Obama is responsible close to 1/3 of the total deficit. If elected to a second term, the rate he is going he will own close to 1/2 of our deficit. How can this be defended?

He thinks the answer is taking from the rich. If he took every penny from everyone that makes over $100K, the rate he is speading it will be gone in exactly 60 days.

Rallying up the idiots again?

Let's ignore the ongoing wars that were never paid for, and that he is ramping down
Let's ignore the ongoing entitlement obligations
Let's remember that HCR isn't even in effect now
Let's ignore the senior drug prescription program added 3 years before
Let's ignore that he offered a grand compromise, Boehner accepted, and Cantor said no way
Let's ignore that he contributed to Libya at 1/10000 the cost of Iraq
Let's forget that the budget obligations are legacy and can not be wiped entirely every year- aka pensions, SS etc. You can only affect future obligations.

Carry on with the propaganda I35

It is actually the debt that is over 15 trillion.
the deficit is the gap between revenues and spending / buget, calculated on a yearly basis. The deficit ends up added to the debt

but your main points are correct and frightening.

Wow mcbrett, that's the best spin you can do? Funny how that on going war started in 2003 when we spent the most which is 5 years under Bush and just maintained for 3 years under Obama and you are using that as an excuse for BHO's. Very typical that you would blame Bush for the spending habits of Obama. Either way are you saying he's too stupid to know where we stood and he chose to spend money we didn't have in the first place to really jack up our debtt? Why don't you just keep ignoring the fact that this President had the Majority in both the house and congress for 66% of his Presidency so far and if he didn't like the direction America was going then why didn't he change courses instead of going all in?

Holy ****! It's like the Republicans have awakened and discovered debt all of the sudden! Yeah, it's just like it was in 2005, when David Walker was talking about it.

The Link

Entitlement spending etc... was entirely foreseeable. The costs going forward were known.

Yet we embarked on monstrously expensive wars (with the assurance that one would entirely pay for itself), created "No Child Left Behind," created an entire new department of government (Department of Homeland Security, whose budget is 50 billion dollars and which already employs 23,000 workers who will all be expecting pensions one day), dreamed up a prescription drug benefit etc.... while simultaneously cutting taxes.

As if nobody in the world could predict that raising expenditures and cutting taxes would result in budget deficits.

And now, all of the sudden, they've discovered the debt.

The intellectual audacity is staggering.

You guys are fighting over deck chairs on the Titanic.

mcbrett and Bevo,everything you type doesn't even come close to justifying Obama's spending. For you mcbrett, the cost of the warwas the most when we invaded. But all the "Ignore the....". has little to do with Obama's spending or we would see each year under him get it better under control than the debt going much high. Are you saying the cost of war cost more this year than in 2009? Interest is a hell of a number, but the rate isn't at 150% on the dollar. As for you Bevo, the previous Presdient has there part of the Debt, but it's crazy to blame going from $500 million a day with Clinton for 8 years and say it's his fault for Bush's $1 billion per day for 8 years and then blame Bush for Obama's $4.5 billion per day for three years. Under BHO the Debt was at:

2009 = $10.62 Trillion
2010 = $12.35 Trillion
2011 = $15 Trillion

One day once he's out of office the GLOP candidate will start getting things better and you guys will be on here trying to claim it was what BHO did while here is the success. It just doesn't fly.

Some pretty sad replies on this thread. True conservatives were disgusted with GWB's lack of fiscal responsibility. The rise of the tea party can mostly be credited to W's abject failure on this issue.

That said. Obama has made W look like a Scotsman down to his last bit of beer money.

The only Republican who will change any of this is Ron Paul. The other candidates are not going to change the status quo.

Republicans and Democrats both are responsible for the **** we are in.

It is debt, not deficit. Big difference. And this is why we need Congress to pass a budget. In the meantime they can make some big spending cuts if they can actually step up and do their job.

I think one of those libs is still spouting that Obamacare is going to save anybody any money? Are you really that dense? C'mon you can't be that dense, please tell me you are not that dense, please?
