my roommate's mom left some for me after visiting this weekend.......i got about 5, 4-5lb bags of it.....so i'm open to any suggestions as to how to prepare it.......will post pics on sunday when i grill with my dad, haven't done that in awhile

I know you want some cool ideas, but it's really just like regular hamburger, only leaner and funny tasting if you've never had it before.

That said, this hamburger was made out of venison hamburger and it rocked my face off:

It's about 3/4 lb of venison hamburger, topped with sauteed mushrooms and onions, cheddar melted on top of that, a few slices of fresh avocado, and some homemade horseradish mayo. I pretty much negated any of the health aspects of the venison, but it was ******* worth it.

That's why I'm not a big fan of deer meat. You have to do too much to it for it to taste good.

Grew up eating venison since my Dad was a hunter, as well as cousins, uncles, ex b/f, etc... It's definitely a lot better for you than beef, though it can have a "gamey" taste. Not sure how to get rid of it with it grounded like hamb, but if you have backstrap, roasts, etc... you can soak those in milk prior to cooking and it will get rid of the gamey taste. I used the ground venison any way I would with hamb. Enjoy!

The main thing with game is to chill the meat after killing the animal as soon as possible. That means field dressing and hanging the dressed carcass in cold air.
