Debt Numbers

If the liberals on this board who will question the validity of this chart, please show me your numbers and how you have it broken down. I would enjoy comparing the two for accuracy to the CBO. Thanks.

History shows that the least injurious combination is a Republican congress and a democrat president.

Democrat Congress and Republican President = Spending Explosion

Republican Congress and Republican President = Spending Explosion

Republican Congress and Democrat President = relative spending restraint

You can't spell damn or deficit, but that would appear to be the least of your problems.

Carry on, you are getting to be my favorite poster ever.

It is amazing BI takes the time to tell us all about Dem President success stories - even though he is a staunch libertarian.

One of multiple times, on a daily basis, BI's true colors rear themselves. The Gary Johnson schtick is a failed bit and a weak disguise.

Sorry, about my spelling. I think it is part of my lack of typing skills, shaky hands from drinking too much, and overall never understanding the whole i before e except after c or something like that......

If there was a spell checker on here it would make my spelling much easier!

This tells the story, why Bush was so bad at the end of his term.

Don’t just skim over this, read it slowly and let it sink in. If in doubt, check it out.

The day the democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009, it was actually January 3rd 2007 the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, at the very start of the 110th Congress.

The Democrat Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is "Bush's Fault", think about this:

January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress. At the time:

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77

The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%

The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB GROWTH

Remember the day...

January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?

BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!

Unemployment... to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!

Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie - starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy.

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA

And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie?

OBAMA and the Democrat Congress

So when someone tries to blame Bush...

REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007.... THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!"

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democrat Party.

Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 &2011.

In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases.

For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budgets.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009.

If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets.

If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself. In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.

Wow the 2009-2011 Congress was out of control! They racked up an average monthly debt of $141 billion! No other congress comes even close. The second closest is the current congress which is racking up $99.5 billion per month.

Not surprised to see that the only congress with any restraint was controlled by the Republicans.

Wow BI - your posts often incite a gag reflex in me. Its simply awkward that you scream out that you're a libertarian and yet spend such a tremendous effort trying to verbally crap on all things republican.

Facts are facts - Democratic Pres and Democratic Congress out-did all of the others combined and by a large margin. Very telling that you completely skipped over this in your post.

Its really pretty simple - you can blame on wars, etc, but during GWB years from 2002-2006, deficits ran about $500/600 bill annualy - check the numbers. 2009-2011 ran 2 1/2 - 3 times that amount.

Its really astounding how much effort people put into pointing fingers and labeling people - "You're a racist", "GWB left Obama a huge mess", "Obama is terrible because the economy still sucks after 4 years", blah blah blah.

its very simple - Entitlements in 2011 nearly exceeded GDP. PERIOD!!!! I don't profess to be the smartest guy around, but this is not sustainable. The R's are saying cut entitlements and no new taxes. The D's are saying tax the rich, but no cuts on entitlements. Where is the party that says both are necessary to fix the debt?!?!?! Where is the person that says everyone must suffer some from their current lifestyle for the good of the country????? Its just damn sickening to see so much bickering and whining from both sides.

Hornpharm, you need to go back and read what Hookem123 last posted (word for word) on this topic then you need to retype what you just did and try to do it with a straight face.

I will say that the Original Post was not about who or what is to blame but it is about the numbers. Something some people on this board do not understand.

If you didn't notice that Bush and the Republicans were heading in the right direction with the year to year debt before Pelosi/Reid/Obama/Frank/Dodd took over.

The recession that you speak of wasn't even half as bad as the one in the late 1970's, and we were out of it by June of 2009, in not part thanks to anything Obama did. Get your facts straight dude and quit parroting every headline you read at an NBC TV station.

I will give you this, something you mentioned that the Republicans did maximize Revenue with their tax cuts and business practices, even though it goes in the face of your need to raise taxes, thanks for pointing that out, good job.

Wars: True that Dems and Pubs have a problem with entering and escalating unnecessary wars.

Departments of Homeland Security: Really a bad idea, which I guess explains why both parties were for it. Passed 295/132 and 90/9.

Prescription Drug Benefits: Appeasement in the Pub party to Dems and the elderly. Without the elderly in the Pub party the Pubs lose. Responsibility vs. re-election - It's too bad that they don't go hand in hand. Hopefully, people like Rand Paul can change things.

Uninformed, agree with everything except HLS.

I think it is a good idea gone bad. I don't think the Bush Administration did a good job of implementing it and I don't think the Obama Adminstration has done anything to right that ship. Napalotono(sp) is a complete joke and needs to be replaced. Neither adminstration has done a good job with this Department, it needs to be overhauled and the bueracracy(sp) needs to be trimmed back.

Help us see the light you saw, because it made no sense to me. The last budget was passed in 2009. For your information, the Democrats controlled both houses in congress and the presidency in 2010, what is the excuse again?
