You offered yourself and Okie Lite to the Pac 12. They said no. They have an issue with our LHN- fine, that is between us and Commissioner Scott should anything happen.

Here's the message you're missing, or maybe not publicly acknowledging: No one wants you without Texas. Therefore, act accordingly. Cede to the idea that we make extra cash on the side because we have more than twice the fan base, and an affluent fan base willing to pay $$ for products, t-shirts and cable tv channels. That's not an unfair NCAA or league policy- that is life- and that won't change anytime soon.

I'd suggest if you want to leave the Big 12, call Deloss Dodds and ask him what he wants to do. I'd suggest if you want to stay in the Big 12, call Deloss Dodds and ask him what he wants to do.

In the mean time, enjoy your #1 AP ranking. We may lose this year, but we have a great, young team with significantly improved coaching. Our field performance is pretty close to catching up to both our financial and academic excellence.

I think Boren shot his wad with the Pac 12, but I don't think OU is part of the problem. In fact, I liked the fact that OU went on record in saying it wanted Beebe gone.

One thing the Sooners can do also is start their own network. They may not have the same size audience as the LN but OU is still a strong brand with a lot of fans. Why not?

We are trying to re-build this conference, and it'll take OU working with us for that to happen. Yes, the Pac-12 situation wasn't exactly flattering to the sooners, but don't let that fool you into believing that we don't need them here to make this work. They are as integral to this conference surviving as we are.

Not that anyone cares about the lowly Longhorn faithful (like us) or anything, but I'm really tired of OU supporters bitching about the LHN and everything else TEXAS. It's constant nowdays, the media sure hasn't helped. National / regional / local radioheads blame everything on UT at the moment, specifically the LHN.

Every OU alum or fan i personally know has bitched about all things LHN & Conf realignment. I've told 2 of them to just GO to the pac or wherever. I'm seriously tired of the complaining. The fact the conference had a chance to start a b12 network is lost on them.

If we go Indy / ACC or whatever b/c of other's jealousy and envy, I'm fine with it. Not my choice to make, but I'll support Bellmont on whatever route they take here. We've lost the populace's arguement even tho we're certainly in the right (now I know how W felt after we went into Iraq i suppose- sigh).

It's frustrating as hell but after awhile --- I just tune the sooners and aggy out. Indy for football doesn't seem like such a bad deal for the short term to me.

Re:

They may not be able to support a Network exactly like the LHN, so adapt it to their strengths and needs. Consider including OSU as a partner. If they are joined at the hip (as we keep hearing) then they only have to decide how to split of revenues. Talk to ESPN about setting up a sports network - ESPN Norman (like ESPN L.A., Dallas etc.) and include OKC BB, Tulsa or whoever to create sufficient interest and programing. Talk to Fox about a Sooner regional channel with the ooption to grow it. They shold copy the innovation of the LHN not the model that Texas has used.

I'm not sure how many OU fans you know that are "bitching" about the LHN. Most of the ones I know, myself included, don't really care. My personal opinion is UT's earned being in the position to have it so more power to them. (That said, the only issue I have about it is I'm just tired of hearing about the thing.)

The hold-up with OU going to the Pac?? was having to tow along Okie State with us as a package. That's a huge albatross around OU's neck.

I'll admit there's not enough clout for OU to make that work dragging along that little brother, as opposed to UT having the clout for a conference to overlook and go ahead and accept Tech or even Aggie as part of a deal to get the Horns.

OU alone, likely goes anywhere except the B1G. (Alone meaning without having to drag along the twerpy little brother.)

Also, they're reporting that it's been Stoops who has not wanted to leave the Big XII-ish without UT, and has been vocal with Boren about that.

I am very pleased that it appears OU will remain in the conference with Texas. I would would take our games with them over A&M's any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Again... OU fans have almost NO qualms about the LHN. The only questionable sticking point is that HS games/ highlights may potentially be shown. That should be a no-no for anyone. Other than that, I'm all for it. Knock yourselves out. OU simply doesn't want to be in some watered down conf (and nor do you all). That's it. Imma go eat a sammich now.

Well- OU fans are one thing- they always hate Texas and their logo is ours upside down.

And their leader- Mr. Boren- had the Big 12 Commish fired over perceived preferences to Texas. So- I think there is pretty clear evidence that an obsession about Texas is in the offices as well as the keyboards at home.

My message is- regardless of how you feel, demographics are demographics and they're not changing anytime soon. Your best option is to work with the hand you're dealt.

...boren was the head of of the senate intelligence community that approved robert gates[president of aggie and subsequent defense secy] appointment to head the cia...I hope he handled our state secrets better than this fiasco...I just cant believe a man of his stature shot his mouth off the way he did at all phases of this poker game...

Stoops maintained all along that "things change and you move on". Publicly his point all along wasn't that he prefered one or the other option, just that things would continue either way.

His example was how OU-NU was such a staple rivalry for not only the Big Eight, but also for years a national Thanksgiving tradition. Then with the advent of the Big XII, with a great deal of fan anguish, it was gone and how the world didn't stop and here we are now. He said if it was the case with OU-UT having to end, the same would happen there. Life and football would go on.

No revsionism, just realism. It's just something you don't hear offered up very often.

That clarified, on a personal note, I am damned happy NOT to be going to the Pac?? period.
