This will likely never be seen by Zach Gentry, or anyone who knows him, so its probably just theraputic for me to post it.
Whether you're aware of it or not, most rational Longhorn football fans do not expect Kyler Murray or Kai Locksley to commit to Texas. It is lovely fantasy imagining you, Murray, Locksley, and Heard all competing for the starting job, but it will not happen. However, no one can really blame you for taking a look at Michigan. Before deciding, consider the following pros and cons.
For MU: Harbaugh: who can question his history with QBs?
Against MU: Harbaugh: he's crazy, first year of a rebuild, ice and snow (you have to live there, not just play football there), competing against another 4* with the same skill set, Detroit, big cornfed women in long underwear, a long way from home.
For Texas: Are you thinking of putting down roots in Michigan after football? Only pro style QB in the fold, weather, warm girls in less clothing, your family can come to more games without hiring a snow plow, amazing class of WRs shaping up, Charlie Strong and Vance Bedford's defense got your back, I'd rather be a fence post in Texas than the King of Michigan (trust me on this), have you seen the OL we're bringing in?
Seriously, you have a chance to be the guy who shows up in Strong's second year of the rebuild and becomes the face of the new program. That is similar to Harbaugh's sell, but he is in his first year. As we just learned, that first year is rocky, at best.
In the end, if you're concerned about competing with anyone for the starting job, then where ever you go, you're not "him." We desperately need a guy who takes control of a huddle and inspires an offense. We can't afford to anoint anyone.
To close, you seem to be the class of this class, in that you have not tried to make it about you. If you end up in Michigan, I hope you're happy there.
I almost forgot to mention that we have a stud RB who was just getting back to form after an achillies burst, and will probably get at least two of the best RBs in this class. So there's that, too. Tacos, I didn't mention tacos either. Lots of taco options in Austin. Am I starting to sound needy?
