That's their plan. The old razor/blade strategy. They are also furiously working on developing ink cartridges that will stop working after the ink runs out. That is why the print driver is now partially contained on the cartridge. It does not pay to print!

Yeah, when the toner runs out on this one, I'll just throw it away like I am going to do with my old one.

Guess I should have looked more closely! That is a laser! For some reason "Laser" just registered as "inkjet". Wow, at that price "total cost per page" is really down there. Still I need color for most of my printing, so I am still a slave to the inkjet and those damn cartridges

Comments above were about inkjets not lasers. Although I do know that margins are high for toner supplies also.
