Deadwood

I've been going back & watching the first season on DVD and man, talk about a show that gets better with time. I just finished episode 10 ("Mr. Wu") and if I ever there was an award to be given for the artistic use of the word "**********" it would have to go to that episode.

It's criminal that a) the series is no longer on HBO, and b) that they'll never film the two 2-hour movies that were supposed to be the series finale.

"Deadwood" is, IMO, the single best TV drama of all time.

There. I said it. Let the "Sopranos" and "Wire" devotees wail and gnash their teeth.

My wife and I just started season one, and through two episodes we're not in love with it. It's good to hear some people who have enjoyed it, so that we can stick with it.

Of course, from a lot of stuff I've read, it was as much Milch (who was also responsible for John from Cincinnatti) being an asshat as much as it was stupidity on HBO's part.

The entire series was greatness. Swearengen blowjob siloloquys were some of the best television around.

I love the show. My mom always loved westerns, and I thought this was so realistic, so I brought over season one after my dad passed away. She was bored and alone, I thought the show would be great for her.

Within 30 seconds of Swearengen's dialog the DVD was turned off.

Not sure what I was thinking.

Swearengen and any other character automatically qualifies as a classic scene. One of his best lines was aimed at E.B. "Declare, or shut the F up!". The same episode he stated to Trixie that he "would sooner touch the moon than undertand a *****'s thinking!". Just an outstanding character.
