1st, I have family and friends in law enforcement, so I know how tough their job can be. And I appreciate their hard work.

But, this show is a clusterfuck in so many ways. The criminals have to the dumbest fucks on the planet. I've known some major weight guys back in the day and these fucks wouldn't last 1 hour with them. I mean a guy gets arrested for 4 pills and he's ready to become CI right away!

As for the agents, these guys are some real pieces of work. They build you up that, they are going to take down this big dangerous dealer, but then the guy gives up with out a fight. And talk about cocky, yeah, 2 whole fuckin pounds of weed off the streets is a great way to justify the money and time you just spent. The war on drugs has turned these guys in to modern day crusaders or worse. In the last episode I saw, in order to get info, they basically pulled people over saying a walgreens had been robbed and you fit the profile. Aint that a *****!!!

Ok, I had to get that off my chest..thx Hornfans

I am a DEA agent in a state much, much smaller than NJ. Addressing your points, yes most of the guys we arrest are stupid. We use the stupid ones to get the smart ones. The guys running the organization aren't the guys selling on the street. They hire some lackey who will take the fall and keep their mouth shut.

Yes, we try to flip every person we arrest. 95% of the time, they don't, at least not until they've spent some time in jail.

Yes, we treat every arrest like the guy is going to come out blazing with a Tec-9. 99.99% of the time, the guy is bewildered and goes down before he realizes what's going on. 99% of the guys who don't go easy, run. Shootings are extremely rare. But the Oakland Police Department can tell you what happens when a motivated shooter gets the jump on you.

No, we don't arrest anyone for four pills or two pounds or weed. Maybe that's all of the conspiracy they show you, but I'll tell you this, working in one of the 15 smallest states in the country, two pounds of weed will get you laughed out of the US Attorney's office. The minimum, minimum, here, to get into federal court is over 200 lbs. I literally don't remember the last time my group targeted a MJ organization or made a controlled purchase of MJ.

If they are pulling targets over without PC, they will lose in suppression hearings. Hell, we lose plenty of suppression hearings involving traffic stops with legit PC.

Overall, we arrest guys we KNOW are moving serious weight. I have too many multi kilo cocaine and multi pound meth dealers to bother with guys moving four pills or two pounds of weed. There aren't enough hours in the day.

Thanks for that post Dale. I used to be with the DEA, but not as an agent. You guys have a dangerous job that few will ever be able to appreciate. Thanks for what you do.

Again, the show's format is entertainment for the masses. Particulary, red blooded males who love guns, violence and suspense.

Spike is not interested in producing a show that paints an accurate picture of a DEA's agent's day to day duties and functions. If they did that you'd change the channel.

My father in law is a DEA agent, he watched one episode of the first season. He didnt like it, because he said it was a poor example of what they actually do. The show doesnt show the months and many hours of survelince that goes into putting their cases together. The show makes it appear they are a street level law enforcement agency, which is far from the truth.
