Per TFB:
King holds an offer from Alabama and is also being recruited by Ohio State. We’ve gotten word that the Texas staff likes King and may be close to pulling the trigger on an offer. I spoke with King yesterday and he said that his transcript was sent to Texas and that he’s been told that they will look over his transcript to ensure he will have the necessary credits to graduate in May. If all looks good, I expect an offer to happen soon. While King is being courted by other big programs, he’s let us know that he definitely sees the opportunity to play right away at Texas.
Per another poster:
It’s no secret Texas is in the market for some immediate help up front. UT defensive coordinator Vance Bedford recently got in contact with Mendocino C.C. product Jamar King and could make a push for him soon. “I’ve talked to (Bedford), and he was saying that they really need some help with defensive linemen,” King said. “He said that he needed some guys that could come in and play right away.” The three-star strong-side defensive end, who can also play defensive tackle, is more than capable of doing just that. King was a dominant force at the JUCO level and is ready to make an impact on the FBS level once he graduates in May.
King said if Texas gets in the mix with an offer, he would definitely be interested in learning more about the program. “I would be very interested in Texas,” he said. “I know that Charlie Strong is a really good coach. I like that his teams play hard and compete, so we’ll just see what happens.” King is currently considering Alabama, Ohio State and UCF. He will make official visits to all three schools this month.
Per Scout:
"I'm a defensive player, I like to wreck things," he said. "On tape, you'll see me destroying plays, you'll see me everywhere on the field. I play defensive end, but I was all over. I played D-tackle, end and they even had me at stand-up linebacker a little bit, too."
"I've got a couple visits set up in the month of January," King said. "I've got Alabama on the 22nd, on the 15th I've got a visit for UCF, another school that said I had an offer there. I got Ohio State on the 30th, no offer from them.
"Ohio State was a favorite school to me. Growing up in that area it was Michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State. I wouldn't mind going to either one of those programs."
A product of Detroit (Mich.) Denby High School, King is willing to play anywhere across America at the next level.
"I'm just looking for a school I can go to and make a big impact," he said. "A school that will bring success for me as well, most of all academic-wise. Not just football, I'm looking for a school academically recognized, too. I'm in the criminal justice field, so I'm looking to continue that."
King registered 63 total tackles in nine games as a sophomore at Mendocino, including nine sacks and 23.5 stops for loss. He is on pace to graduate in May.
